Sobiah Becker
Sobiah Becker serves as an Advisor for the Pak-German Climate & Energy Partnership at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. In this role, she emphasizes the economic benefits of transitioning to renewable energy, particularly advocating for investments in green hydrogen within Pakistan’s industrial sector. Ms. Becker underscores the importance of a comprehensive approach involving both public and private sectors to achieve Pakistan’s climate objectives, highlighting the necessity for policy coherence between national and subnational levels. Her extensive experience includes managing the Climate Risk Adaptation and Insurance in the Caribbean project with the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative and developing a Disaster Risk Insurance Framework for Pakistan. Ms. Becker’s work focuses on climate change adaptation, disaster risk financing, and promoting sustainable energy solutions.
