Sunita Narain

Sunita Narain is a Delhi-based environmentalist and author, currently serving as the Director General of the Centre for Science and Environment and Editor of the biweekly magazine Down To Earth.
Narain actively contributes to policy formulation on environmental and development issues both in India and globally. She has co-authored influential publications on the environment and led campaigns on climate change, air pollution control, community water management, food safety, and toxins, among others. Narain was a member of the Indian Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change and has been honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India. In 2005, she received the prestigious Stockholm Water Prize for her work on rainwater harvesting and community-based water management. In 2016, she was included in TIME magazine’s list of 100 Most Influential People in the world.
